8K is Here! 3 Reasons to Embrace the Wave

by Reyna Thomas

One of the biggest technological advancements so far has been 4K. But what about 8K? Maybe you haven’t heard of it yet or seen anything about it, but 8K is coming. So, what’s the big deal? Well, you came to the right place. Keep reading and find out the top 3 things you can look forward to when it comes to 8k.

1. Resolution

The switch from 4k to 8k is huge. And one of the biggest differences is resolution. The resolution of 4K screens is 3840 x 2160 pixels, whereas 8K displays have a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, which is four times greater. In other words, 8K can provide a very vivid and superior viewing experience; making the content more appear more detailed, clearer, and cleaner. It can even make subpar 4K videos look better than they would on a 4K screen.

2. Bigger Better TVs

With more and more brands coming out with 8K TV models, one trend is for certain. Bigger TVs. If you’re in the market for an 8K TV, you’ll want to try and find one no smaller than 75-80 inches. Without getting too technical, it’s due to the pixel capabilities of smaller screens, so in order to see any visible difference, you are going to want to have a bigger screen. 8K is definitely going to stamp its mark on TV manufacturing, with rules regulating what can be branded as a true 8K TV by the Consumer Technology Association. An 8K TV can only be branded as 8K if it has at least 7,680 pixels horizontally and 4,320 vertically, the ability to upconvert lower-resolution signals, the ability to receive and display 10-bit content, and at least one HDMI input that can handle the resolution at 50 or 60 fps with HDR.

3. 8K Everything

With this new wave of 8K that also means that besides TVs you can start seeing a lot more electronic products feature 8K resolution. Products like VR headsets, gaming systems, and projectors. So, you’re gaming, movie, and social experiences will get clearer and better. You’ll even start seeing streaming services offer movies, shows in 8K. What does that mean? Well for the most part it shows how much and how fast technology is growing - 4K still feels new - but technology is what’s been pushing us forward. It also means you’ll see 8K being paired with premium formats and features a lot, so it might not always be a feasible option to your budget.

For a while, 8K TVs aren't going to seem like urgent purchases, but there's already enough content and products on the horizon to ensure that the high-def technology has a bright future. The debut of 8K is a progressive addition for someone who is always looking for methods to improve the viewing experience of TV shows, films, and videos.
