How to Clean a Record Player

<p dir="ltr"><span>Let&rsquo;s start with the easy stuff! The first thing you need to decide is where you want to place your record player. It should be on a flat, level surface. It&rsquo;s worth using a level to actually make sure things are level, and you may have to adjust the feet of your turntable to really get things into place.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>You also don&rsquo;t want your record player too close to the speakers you are going to use -- same goes for any subwoofer you might be using. </span></p>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Most record players are belt-driven, and you&rsquo;ll probably have to get the belt set up. Lift up the platter and thread the belt around it -- there&rsquo;s usually a groove -- then place the platter back into the system and thread the belt around the motor. Make sure there aren&rsquo;t any kinks in the belt while you are doing this, as well.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><strong>3. Amping Things Up&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The signal that comes from a record player needs to be boosted before going through your speakers. This can be done in one of several ways -- some speakers have a pre-amp and amp built in, some record players have a pre-amp built in, while others require you to use separate components.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Make sure to do your homework to see what type of record player you are getting -- or what type you want to get -- and keep that in mind when picking out the rest of your set up.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>4.&nbsp;<span id="docs-internal-guid-5d745179-7fff-5f24-4d6f-d94ebcc16359">Connecting Everything Up&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></strong></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>With your player level and your pre-amp all figured out, you are ready to move things along. Connect your record player to your speakers (whether through a pre-amp or a built-in one) and plug it in.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>And then well, it&rsquo;s time for the fun part. Put a record on and get ready to hear music the way it&rsquo;s meant to be heard -- at 45 RPM.</span></p>
